Savage River Lookout - Denali NP, AK

One of my most rewarding hikes in Alaska’s Denali Park was the savage River Hike. It was the first week of September. The fall colors did not come out fully due to the relatively dry summer season this year. But the Savage River area of the park showed a spectacular vista for the visitor. As the cloud conditions were promising on this day for a nice sunset, I went for a 3 hrs hike up to the snow level of the hill. It was interesting that the usually cloud covered mountain range revealed itself. The unique micro-climate of the region is unpredictable. At sunset I managed to capture a beautiful alpine glow panorama along with the full palette of colors of Denali’s autumn in the foreground.
